CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-116
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT FOR THE READING OF ELECTRICAL METERS WITHIN
THE SEWARD ELECTRICAL SERVICE AREA WITH DERRALD J.
HILDERBRAND
WHEREAS, the City's meter reading contract for the Electrical Service Area expires on
September 30, 1998; and
WHEREAS, request for proposals (RFP's) were issued pursuant to standard bid procedures
provided for in the City Code and only one proposal was received; and
WHEREAS, the current contractor, Derrald Hilderbrand, provided the attached proposal to
read the meters for the City; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hilderbrand's proposal proposes the same rates for reading the meters and
delivering the door hangers as his current contract; and
WHEREAS, the contractor will be paid a flat rate of $1,787.60 per month for reading
approximately 2,180 meters (base unit price of $.82 per meter) and $2.25 each per door hanger per
month; and
WHEREAS, the meter count will be adjusted each year on October 1 and the contract will
be paid based on the unit price of $.82 per meter; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hilderbrand has been the contract meter reader since October 1994 and his
performance has been excellent;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Derrald 1.
Hilderbrand for the reading of electrical meters within the Seward Electrical Service Area.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 28th
day of September, 1998.
