CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 94-35
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN AND
REZONING THE WATERFRONT TRACTS SITE OF THE PROPOSED
ALASKA SEA LIFE CENTER TO CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Seward Waterfront Tracts 2-6 have been identified by the Seward City
Council as a site for development of the Alaska SeaLife Center; and
WHEREAS, Tracts 2-4 are designated Central Business District and Tracts 5-6 are
designated Park; and
WHEREAS, Tract 2 is zoned Central Business District; Tracts 3-4, the municipal
dock and its access road are zoned Industrial; and Tracts 5-6 are zoned Park; and
WHEREAS, it would be proper for the entire parcel identified for the proposed
Alaska Sea Life Center to have the same land use designation and the same zone; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Association for the Advancement has requested that the
property be rezoned to Central Business District and the Land Use Plan be amended to
change the designation to Central Business District; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. The Seward Land Use Plan is hereby amended by changing the
designation of Seward Waterfront Tracts 5 and 6 from Park to Central Business District.
Section 2. The Seward Zoning Map is hereby amended by changing Seward
Waterfront Tracts 3 and 4, the Municipal Dock and the access road from Industrial to
Central Business District and Tracts 5 and 6 from Park to Central Business District.
Section 3. The amendment to the Land Use Plan and the change to the zoning
map will be effective concurrent with the transfer of said lands to the developers of the
proposed sea life center project.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
