Sponsored by: Murphv Introduction Date: 11/28/94 Public Hearing Date: 12112194 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 94-46 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE ~2.15.030 AND ~2.15.035, ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS WHEREAS, on October 4,1994, the voters of the City of Seward, Alaska, approved a proposition repealing charter provisions requiring the City Attorney to approve all lease and contract documents as to legal form and sufficiency; and WHEREAS, Seward City Code Sections 2.15.030 and 2.15.035 conflict with the Council's adopted Rules of Procedure and actual city practice; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. Seward City Code ~2.15.030 is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.15.030 Prior approval by city attorney, etc. All ordinances, except ordinances initiated by the electors of the city under the provisions of City Charter ~4.6, shall have been approved as to fonn by the city attorney or his authorized representative prior to presentation to the city council. All ordinances and resolutions addressing substantial administrative matters shall have been examined for the administration by the city manager or his authorized representative prior to presentation to the city council. Resolutions and contracts of the city shall be reviewed and approved as to fonn by the city attorney only upon request of the city manager or the city clerk. Section 2. Seward City Code ~2.15.035 A. is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.15.035 Introduction: public hearing: amendment: publication. A. An ordinance or resolution may be sponsored by the city manager, city clerk, city attorney, one of the boards or commission, the mayor or any member of the city council. Ordinances and resolutions may be introduced by reading the title only and shall be read in full only when requested by a majority of the council or unless otherwise provided by law. When an ordinance or resolution has been introduced, copies thereof shall be made available to the public in the council chambers and by the office of the city clerk. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment. . . .
