CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 94-51
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
~ 2.10.010 A., ELIGIBILITY FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE,
~ 2.10.050 C. AND D., VACANCIES IN ELECTIVE OFFICE
WHEREAS, the city council wishes to amend the City Code to conform to Charter
changes approved by the voters of the City of Seward, Alaska, on October 4, 1994;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code ~ 2.10.010 A. is repealed and reenacted to read as follows:
A. To be eligible to file for election to a city office a person shall be
an elector of the city and shall have resided in the city or territory annexed to the
city continuously for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the
date of filing.
Section 2. Seward City Code ~. 2.10.050, Subsections C. and D. are repealed and
reenacted to read as follows:
C. A vacancy on the council also is created by the resignation of a
councilmember in writing approved by the council; the death of a councilmember;
the removal of a councilmember .from office by a court of competent jurisdiction;
or a failure of a councilmember to qualify for office within 10 days .from the date
of certification of the member's election.
D. if a vacancy occurs on the council, other than a vacancy occurring
.from a recall, the vacancy shall be filled as provided in Section 2.13(a) of the
Charter.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
12th day of December, 1994.
