CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 94-55
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
SECTION 8.20.010, VEHICLES FOR HIRE
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to clarify the definition of vehicles for hire
regulated under Chapter 8.20 of the Seward City Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code S 8.20.010 is hereby amended to read as follows:
8.20.010 Definition and scove.
A. As used in Chapter 8.20:
1. "Motor vehicle" means a vehicle which is self-propelled
except a vehicle moved by human or animal power.
2. "Vehicle" means a device in, upon, or by which a person or
property may be transported or drawn upon or immediately over a highway or
vehicular way or area; "vehicle" does not include (i) devices used exclusively upon
stationary rails or tracks, or (ii) mobile homes.
3. "vehicle for hire" means a chauffeur-driven motor vehicle
hired for transport of passengers.
B. This chapter shall not apply to any vehicle for hire which is
regulated by the state.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
12th day of December, 1994.
