CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 389
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF
CHAPTER 8 OF THE SEWARD CODE OF
ORDINANCES RELATING TO ELECTION
JUDGES AND VOTER QUALIFICATIONS.
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDAINS:
Section 1. That the Seward City Code, Section 8-7,
is hereby repealed and reenacted to read as follows:
Section 8-7. Election Judges.
Three election judges shall be
present at each polling place,
and these judges shall be those
approved as election judges by
the Assembly of the Kenai
Peninsula Borough, in accord
with the rules and qualifications
set by that Assembly. If the
judge or clerk so appointed shall
fail or refuse to serve or attend
at the time and place appointed,
the City Manager or the election
officers present, with the approval
of the City Manager, shall chose
a qualified elector to serve in
the absentee's place.
Section 2. That the Seward City Code, Section 8-3,
is hereby repealed and reenacted to read as follows:
Section 8-3. Qualifications of
Voters.
A person may vote in any election
who: (1) is a citizen of the United
States; (2) is at least eighteen
years of age; (3) has been a resident
of Alaska for seventy-five days and
of Seward for thirty days immediately
prior to the election; (4) has not
been judicially determined to be of
unsound mind unless the disability
has been removed; (5) has not been
convicted of a felony involving
moral turpitude unless his civil
rights have been restored; and (6)
is registered with the State of
Alaska as a voter in the precinct
in which he resides, or is registered
as a voter with the City of Seward
in accord with the applicable provi-
sions of Chapter 8 of the Seward City
Code.

Section 3. That this ordinance takes effect immedi-
ately upon passage and approval.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City
of Seward, Alaska, this 11th day of September, 1972.
