AND BEING AN ORllINANCE CREAT1NG AND ESTABLISHING FIRE ZO}ffiS. .i' '}, tj , " The City of Seward, Alaska. ordains: That Section 2.000 (BUILDINGS) of the Seward General Code of Ordinances be amended by adding the following sections: Section 2.400 Fire Safety Code The Fire Safety Code of the State of Alaska. in its latest edition and as latest amended. is hereby designated and shall be known as the Fire Safety Code for the City of Seward, Alaska. and shall constitute the laws of the City of Seward relating to fire safety regulation. Although not published in full in this ordinance, all of the provisions of said Fire Safety Code shall be and are hereby adopted by reference to the same extent as if set forth in full herein, except to the extent that the said Fire Safety Code shall be in conflict with this ordinance or any relevant ordinance later adopted, in ~.,hich case the provisions "'I 'I of the ordinance shall prevail. ,:~ ii~ The City Clerk is directed to keep on file at least three copies of the Fire Safety Code in its latest edition together with any and all amendments thereto. for public use, inspection and examination. so long as the provisions thereof remain in force. Section 2.401 Fire Zones There are hereby created in the City of Seward, Alaska, the following fire zones: Fire Zone No. One (1): That certain land described by ro~tes and bounds as follows. to-,:1f.t: .g ,~ All of Elock 1, the West % of Block 2, in Original ~ownsite, all of the property beginning at a point where 1st Avenue meets the Eear :lountain Diversion Tunnel, thence North along 1st Avenue to the South side of railroad Avenue, -1- r I I I thence along that side of Rai~road Avenue to its intersection with 7th Avenue, thence North on 7th Avenue to its intersec- tion with the South line of the Federal Addition, thence ~est to the alley line between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue, thence North to the South side of t Street, thenc8 West on r Street to the alley line between 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue, thence North along the alley Hnp to its intersection with the ~outh limits of the City Dump (Lagoon Park) Area, thence Southwest along said City Dump lbits to the South li,.,its of Laubner ~ddition, thence West along said Laubner Addition South limit line to its intersection with Resurrection Bay~ thence South on the Seward shore line of Resurrection Bay to point of te3inning; the 2ast ~ of Plock 12, and all of flock 11, all in ~ederal Addition; the Enst .~ of Flock 21 in Original Townsite. Beginning at a point where the center line of Jefferson Street intersects the center line of AIle:' "p. Fire Zone No. Two (2): That certain land descrihed as follows, to-wit: All of Tract A in the Clearview Addition; all of Lots 21 through 33 in Plock 24, Ori8innl Townsite; III of thp S2st ~ of Plock 10, and the West: of tlock 9, Laubner ^ddition; all of the ~~st : of flock 18, Federal Addition. Three (3): Th2t c~ct.:dn lend described as follows, to-wit: All of that ares within the Cerporate Limits of the City of Seward, Alaska, not included in Fire Zone No. One (1) and Fire 7.one ~o. Two (2). and the regulations, restrictions and provisions relating to buildings, structures or activities in said fire zones shall be as set out in Section 2.200 of the Seward General Code of Crdinances. Section 2.402 Penalties for Violation (a) It shall be unlm'lful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, improve, convert, demolish or e1uip any building or structure in the City, or cause or permit the same to be done, or cause or permit any activity therein, contrary to or in violation of any of the provisions of the Fire Safety Code adopted and incorporated as the Seward Fire Safety Code by Section 2.400 of the Seward General Code of Ordinances, or contrary to or in violation of Section 2.200 of the Seward General Code of -2- Ordinances. (b) Any person, fir~ or corporation violating ~ny of the provisions of the said City of Seward Fire Safety Code or Section 2.200 of the Seward General Code of Ordinances shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such person, firn or corporction shall be dee~ed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of the said City of Seward Fire Safety Code or Section 2.200 of the Seward General Code of Ordinances is committed, continued or permitted, and upon conviction of any such offense, such person, fin' or corporation shall be punished by a fine of not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00), or by imprisonment of such convicted per~on or persons for not ~ore than thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Publication of this ordinance shall be made by posting a copy hereof on the City Hall Bulletin Foard for a period of ten (10) days following its passage and approval. First reading: December 3, 1962.
