HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd1953-231 LAW OFFICES HELLENTHA~ HELLENTHAL ANO Coms ANCHOltAcM . .tUNEAU ALASKA :: ORDINANCE NO. 231 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND CALLING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE TOWN OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ON THE 6th DAY OF OCTOBER, 1953, UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE "CITY MANAGER ACT" TITLE 16, CHAPTER 3, ALASKA COMPILED LAWS ANNOTATED, 1949, TO SUBMIT TO THE DULY QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID TOWN OF SEWARD A PROPOSAL OF WHETHER SAID TOirrn SHOULD ADOPT THE CITY MANAGER PLAN OF GOVERNMENT. Be it ordained by the COJlll1lon Council of the Town of Seward, Alaska: Section 1. The COJlll1lon Council of the Town of Seward hereby finds that a petition has been presented in proper form signed by not less than twenty-five (25) percent of the registered voters of the Town of Seward at the last municipal election, which petition prays for the adoption of the City Manager Plan of Government. Section 2. A general election shall be held on the 6th day of Oxtober, 1953, at Seward, Alaska, for the purpose, among other things, of determining whether the Town of Seward shall adopt the City Manager Plan of Government in accordance with the "City Manager Act" Title 16, Chapter 3, Alaska Compiled Laws Annotated, 1949. Section 3. At said general election, the following proposition shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the Town of Seward, as hereinafter defined: "Shall the Town of Seward, Alaska, adopt the City Manager Plan of Government in accordance ~th ~ld Cha~ter 3~ Title 16, ACLA 49." Persons eligible to vote at the general election shall be qualified to vote upon the proposition set forth herein; it is not necessary that such electors' names appear upon the last tax assessment roll or record to enable them to vote upon said proposition. Section 5. The polling place and the judges, clerks, and inspectors of election shall be the same as those designated for the general election to be held on October 6, 1953. Section 6. A printed or typewritten copy of this Ordinance shall be posted at three (3) public places within the boundaries of the Town of Seward at least thirty (30) days prior to October 6, 1953, and proof of such posting shall be filed in the office of the Municipal Clerk of the said Town of Seward. Three (3) such public places are hereby designated to be: (1) the front door of the United States Post Office, Seward, Alaska, (2) the Bulletin Board of the City Hall, Seward, Alaska, (3) the ~ of the Alaska Railroad Dock, Seward, Alaska. bul1~tin board Section 7. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage; it shall be published by posting a copy hereof on the City Hall Bulletin Board for a period of ten (10) days following its passage. Section 8. The rules governing the introduction, passage, and approval of ordinances are hereby suspended; an emergencY' is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its pe.aaage and approval.
