RESOLUTION NO. 98-133
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, RECLASSIFYING THE OFFICE ASSIST ANT POSITION IN THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the job duties for the Office Assistant position in the Fire Department have
increased in complexity and responsibility over the past two years; and
WHEREAS, a comparison between this position and other similar positions, both within the
City and in other communities, showed this position to be a lower salary; and
WHEREAS, the cost oftms reclassification is offset by the savings in the hiring of the new
Fire Chief and the new Deputy Fire Chief and the Fire Department has the required funds for this
reclassification within their existing FY99 budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Office Assistant position in the Fire Department is hereby reclassified from
a Range 4 to a Range 9, and the salary for the position shall hereby be adjusted accordingly.
Section 2. The new title of the position shall be Administrative Clerk.
Section 3. The effective date ofthis reclassification shall be the first day of the pay period
following the approval date of this resolution.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd
day of November, 1998.
