CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-135
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PAY NEWBERY
ALASKA, INC. A TOTAL OF $31,477.85 FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
SERVICES RENDERED
WHEREAS, during the 1998 summer construction period The City of Seward had more
requests for service than our four person crew could handle within the time period for connection
the customers were requesting; and
WHEREAS, in response to these requests the City hired a contract crew which supplied their
own equipment and worked independently of our normal crew and under the direction of the
engineering staff; and
WHEREAS, the City hired Newbery Alaska, Inc., an organization which has done work for
us of a similar nature in the past and has performed well at a reasonable price; and
WHEREAS, Newberry prices are standard for the industry for both manpower and
equipment; and
WHEREAS, the City hired a three person crew from Newbery, with equipment, working
from July 27 through August 14, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the Newberry crew did an excellent job and were able to complete work on two
separate subdivisions in a timely manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to pay Newbery Alaska, Inc. a total of
$31,477.85 for electrical connection services rendered.
Section 2. The amount of $31,477.85 will be charged to the Electric Department Work
Order Operating Supplies, account 501-5300-5440.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 23 day
of November, 1998.
