ORDI NANCE NO. 286
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 212 BY AMENDING SUB-SECTION 101.1 (v)
AND BY ADDING THERE'IO A SUB-SECrION PROHIBITING THE SALE, OFFERING
FOR SALE OR DISPLAY MECHANICAL OR AUTOMATIC-OPENING SfiTCH BLADE
KNIVES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
Seward, Alallka, that:
Sub-paragraph (v) of Section 101.1 of Article 1, Chapter I of
Ordinance 212 is hereby amended to read all follOW'Il:
(va) Carry conceal ad about his pe roon, in any manner
whatever, any revolver, pistol, or other firearm,
or knife, (other than an ordinary pocketknife),
or other dirk or dagger, slung shot, metal knuckles,
or any instrument by the use of which injury could
be inflicted upon the person or property of any
other person.
AND BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Common Council of the
Ci ty of Seward, Ala ska , that:
Sub-Section 101.1 of Article 1, Chapter I of Ordinance 212 is hereby
further amended by adding thereto the following sub-paragraph (vb):
(vb) Sell, offer far sale, or display any dirk, knife
or knives having the appearance of a pocket knife,
the blade or blades of which can be opened by
manipulating a button, or exerting pressure on the
handle or by other mechanical means or devices.
Such dirk or knife is hereby declared to be a
dangerous weapon or deadly weapon wi thin the
meaning of sub-paragraph (va) above.
AN EllERGENCY HAVING BEEN DECLARED AND THE RULES OOVERNING THE
INTROIXJCTION AND IASSI\.GE OF ORDINANCES HAVING BEEN SJSPENDED, THIS
ORDINAlCE IS PASSED AND APProVED by the COllllllon Council of the Cit y
of Seward, Alaska this 5th _ day of May , 1958.
