ORDINANCE NO. 291
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WATER RATES IN THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA; BE
IT ORDAINED Bf 'IHE CITY roUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD:
1. The Utility Board by Resolution due to emergency adopted a rate increase
of One Hundred Per Cent (100%) for Domestic Users and Fifty Per Cent
(50%) for Commercial users.
2. An emergency is hereby declared to exist and finding of the Utility
Board and this Council discloses that the next bond payment due May 1,
1960 cannot be me!: unless the rates are increased drastically as
recommended by the Util i ty Board, ani
3.
Further finding was determined by the Council tha t the Reserve required
by the Water Utility Bond Issue does not exist ani that this condition
will have to be rectified immediately to comply with the City's contractual
obligations.

The rates in this Ordinance will be re-examined wi thin ninety (90)
days from the passage of this Ordinance to determine what reductions
can be made.
Narl THEREFORE, the Council increases the Water Rates Seventy-five Per
Cent (75"1.), the increase covering all water rates because of the emetgency
condition.
An emergency is hereby declared to exist and the rules governing the
passage of ordinances are hereby suspended ani this Ordinance is given full
force and effect immediately upon its passage and approval.
Passed and approved by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska,
this 11th day of January, 1960.
