RESOLUTION NO. 98-141
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A 1999
4X4 EXTENDED CAB WITH 8 FOOT READING EQUIPMENT BOX FOR
A PRICE NOT-TO-EXCEED $31,420.00
WHEREAS, on October 29, 1998, the City of Seward submitted a Request for Proposals
(RFP) for a new vehicle for the Electric Department; and
WHEREAS, the unit to be replaced is #90, a 1989 Ford 350 Pickup, with a "Reading" box
which has almost 90,000 actual miles and is currently in need of a motor and transmission
replacement at a cost of over $5000; and
WHEREAS, the vehicle, which is the primary line crew pickup, has been in daily use by
the line crew for the past 10 years and is in poor condition; and
WHEREAS, two proposals have been received:
Nye Ford
J&S Service Co.
$31,420.00
$37,900.00
Nye Frontier Ford is the low bidder; and
WHEREAS, the unit they bid is a 1999 Ford F-250 with a Stahl Model 96VVS or 96VVSL
Service Box; and
WHEREAS, money is available in the FY 99 Electric Department Budget as a result of a
decision to postpone the purchase ofthe Digger/Derrick Truck previously authorized by Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Nye
Ford to purchase a 1999 4X4 extended cab with 8ft. Reading equipment box for a price
not-to-exceed $31,420.00.
Section 2. The City Council appropriates $31,420 from the Electric Maintenance Repair and
Replacement Fund (MRRF) , account 502-0000-3050 to the Motor Pool Internal Service Fund
Equipment, account 102-1020-5930.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 23rd
day of November, 1998.
