RESOLUTION 2000-068
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA FOR THE PURPOSE
OF RESERVING MOST OF WATERFRONT PARK FROM JUNE 4
THROUGH JUNE 10,2001.
WHEREAS, the Western Alaska Council, Boy Scouts of America requests that Council
make an exception of policies and procedures in order to reserve the Waterfront Park from Adams
Street Pavilion, north along the Bay to Wellington Pavilion and Boulder Stadium and Williams
Park; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts are requesting this camping for no fee; and
WHEREAS, the dates of this event are from June 4 through June 10,2001; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has outlined various requirements to be met by the Boy
Scouts including,
a. Provide their own security force
b. Provide their own fire protection
c. Provide their own first/aid and medical
d. Keep traffic lanes open
e. Contract their own garbage services
f Contract their own portable toilets
g. Provide one Community Service project (to be mutually agreed upon)
h. Clean City-owned restrooms in the reserved areas twice per day; and
WHEREAS, regular camping fees shall be waived; and
WHEREAS, the economic value of this event is desirable to our community;
NOW, THERI:FORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Waterfront Park shall be reserved for the Western Alaska Council, Boy
Scouts of America in the above locations for the time-stated.
Section 2. The City Manager shall put forth a contract binding the Boy Scouts to
provide the above requirements.
Section 3.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska this 26th
day ofJune, 2000.
