<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2000-111 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH WILDER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY TO REMOVE <br />BETWEEN 50,000 AND 60,000 TONS OF ROCK FROM THE 4TH OF JULY <br />ROCK QUARRY FOR THE EXIT GLACIER ROAD PROJECT AT A PRICE <br />OF $17 rrON. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Wilder Construction Company has secured the contract to construct the Exit <br />Glacier Road project for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the construction project will require between 50,000 and 60,000 tons of Type <br />III and Type IV Rip-Rap; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this amount of rock is available from our 4th of July Creek Rock Quarry; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Wilder Construction Company has requested a contract with the City of Seward <br />to work the 4th ofJuly Rock Quarry to remove between 50,000 and 60,000 tons of rock for the Exit <br />Glacier Road project; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Wilder Construction Company has proposed a price of $1.50/ton for rock <br />removed from the quarry which should provide approximately $74,000 in revenue to the City of <br />Seward General Fund; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Wilder will measure the amount of rock removed from the quarry by weighing <br />the rock on a scale at the site; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this will be a non-exclusive contract at fair market value for the duration of this <br />project or October 1, 2001, whichever comes first; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 6.10.310 of the City Code the City Council may <br />determine that competitive bids are not in the public interest. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Wilder <br />Construction Company for the removal of 50,000 to 60,000 tons of class III <br />
