<br />Sponsored by: Staff <br /> <br />..... <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION 2007-01 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION, RESCINDING HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />RESOLUTON 2006-08, RELATING TO THE HEIGHT OF THE <br />HOBEN PARK RETAINING WALL AND SUPPORTING HOBEN <br />PARK HISTORIC ARCHITECT CONSULTANT GARY <br />GILLETTE'S RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Commission at its October 11th, 2006 Regular Meeting <br />approved Resolution 2006-08 entitled: <br /> <br />A Resolution of the Seward Historic Preservation Commission, requesting <br />the City Administration to increase the height of the Hoben Park concrete <br />retaining walls to an approximate height of 50 to 52 inches, and replace <br />original or replica wrought iron fence commensurate with the authorized <br />design criteria; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, subsequently Hoben Park Historic Architect Consultant Gary <br />Gillette performed a site visit, and consulted with the Seward Historic Preservation <br />..... Commission and the State Historic Preservation Office; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, subsequently Hoben Park Historic Architect Consultant Gary <br />Gillette provided the Commission and Administration with recommendations and plans; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, rebuilding the concrete wall to a sub-total height of approximately <br />32 to 36 inches would be historically inaccurate when being viewed from within Hoben <br />Park. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC <br />PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> <br />Section 1. Historic Preservation Resolution 2006-08 is hereby rescinded. <br /> <br />Section 2. The Historic Preservation Commission supports Administration <br />following Hoben Park Historic Architect Consultant Gary Gillette's recommendations. <br /> <br />Section 3. This resolution shall take affect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the Historic Preservation Council of the City of <br />Seward, Alaska, this 21 st day of March, 2007. <br />
