Sponsored by: Staff <br />CITY OF SEWARU, ALASKA <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION 2008-06 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION, SELECTING "HOBEN PARK PHASE III- PLANTERS" <br />AS THE GRANT PROJECT FOR THE FY'09 STATE OF ALASKA, <br />DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCF,S, HISTORIC <br />PRESERVATION FUND GRANT, and RECOMMENDING CITY <br />COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE FY'09 <br />GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF HISTORY AND <br />ARCHAEOLOGY, ALASKA DIVISION OF PARKS AND OUTDOOR <br />RECREATION <br />WHEREAS, each year the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Historic <br />Preservation Office offers a Historic Preservation Fund Grant to Certified Local Governments; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward, Historic Preservation Commission has applied for and <br />has been awarded several of the annual Historic Preservation Fund Grants; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hoben Park restoration project dates back to 1995 when the Ad-hoc <br />committee was formed and discussions were held regarding the naming of the park; and <br />WHEREAS, Hoben Park is on the Seward Register of Historical Places and the National <br />Register of Historic Places; and <br />WHEREAS, the community will benefit from the historic Hoben Park restoration <br />project; and. <br />WHEREAS, the installation of the historic lamp posts and the fountain phases of the <br />Hoben Park restoration project have been completed.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Seward Historic Preservation Commission held a work session for the <br />discussion and selection of a FY'09 grant project on September 22, 2008; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hoben Park reconstruction of the historic concrete planters was <br />supported as the FY'09 CLG grant project choice. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation <br />Commission of the City of Seward, Alaska that: <br />
