Sponsored by: Historic Preservation Commission <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2009-073 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE OF <br />ALASKA AND THE CITY OF SEWARD FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />RECONSTRUCTING AND INSTALLING FOUR HISTORIC PLANTERS <br />IN HOBEN PARK, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS <br />WHEREAS, The State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources Office of Historic <br />Preservation has awarded a grant to the City of Seward to reconstruct and install four historic <br />planters in Hoben Park; and <br />WHEREAS, Constructing and installing the planters is included in Phase III of the City <br />of Seward's plan to restore Hoben Park; and <br />WHEREAS, Hoben Park is currently listed on National Register of Historic Places and <br />the Seward Register of Historic Places; and <br />WHEREAS, This project will continue to enhance public awareness of Seward historic <br />properties listed on local, state and national registers and complement the fountain restoration <br />that was completed in 2008; and <br />WHEREAS, the total project cost is estimated at $10,500.00, with a federal share of <br />$6,300.00 and a local match of $4,200.00; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's match for this project will be provided through the in-kind <br />services of the Seward Historic Preservation Commission. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br />Section 1. The City Council authorize the city manager to execute a grant <br />agreement between the State of Alaska and the City of Seward, accepting grant funds in the <br />amount of $6300.00 to grant account no. 810-8100-4680-0100 and contributing $4200.00 as in- <br />kind services to contracted services account no. 810-8100-5390. <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward this IOth day of August, <br />2009. <br />
