Sponsored by: Oates <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2009-085 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$226,000 AS A PORTION OF THE CITY'S COST SHARE OF THE EAST <br />BREAKWATER EXTENSION PROJECT, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS <br />WHEREAS, the Seward City Council passed Resolution 2009-046 on June 8, 2009, <br />authorizing funding in the amount of $274,000 as the City's portion of costs associated with the <br />Seward Harbor breakwater relocation project, with the funding source for the City's cost share <br />coming from the cruise ship head tax proceeds; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of a competitive bid process conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers for construction of the breakwater extension, costs came in higher than anticipated, <br />resulting in additional funding needed to complete the project; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to award the contract for the project, and to provide contract <br />supervision and administration, the U.S. Army Corps has requested a total of $500,000 from the City <br />of Seward, representing the City's cost share for this project; and <br />WHEREAS, having already appropriated $274,000 for the project, it is necessary to <br />appropriate the remaining $226,000 to the project in order to proceed, with said funding to come <br />from the proceeds of cruise ship head tax. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br />Section 1. The city manager is hereby authorized to amend the Project Cooperation <br />Agreement with the Department of the Army to reflect the additional proj ect costs, if necessary, and <br />to pay a total amount of $500,000 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. <br />Section 2. The amount of $226,000 is hereby appropriated from the Harbor MRRF Fund <br />cruise ship head tax proceeds to account no. 402-4020-5390. <br />
