Sponsored by: Oates <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2009-097 <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT TO THE STATE <br />OF ALASKA A GRANT APPLICATION FOR A FEDERAL GRANT FOR <br />PROVIDING PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE SEWARD CEMETERY <br />INFORMATION REQUESTING $8,881, INCLUDING $5,329 FEDERAL <br />SHARE AND $3,_552 APPLICANT SHARE IN THE FORM OF IN-KIND <br />VOLUNTEER LABOR <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the National Park Service Historic Preservation Act of 1966, <br />certain federal share n~~atching grants for historic preservation projects are available to <br />certified local governments, and <br />WHEREAS, the Seward Historic Preservation Commission held a work session for the <br />discussion and selection of a FY 2011 grant project on September 30, 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, The Seward City Council has reviewed the application prepared by the <br />Seward Historic Preservation Commissioners for such a federal share matching grant for <br />the Seward Historic Preservation Commission, and <br />WHEREAS, The funds to accomplish the work of Providing Access to the Seward <br />Cemetery [nformation total $8881, including $5,329 Federal share and $3552 applicant <br />share in the form of in-kind volunteer labor, and <br />WHEREAS, The City Council is fully cognizant of the obligations and responsibilities <br />that will be incurred by the City of Seward upon acceptance of such grant. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br />Section 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the manager to submit an application <br />to the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, for a federal share matching <br />grant for Providing Access to the Seward Cemetery Information. <br />Section 2. That funding to accomplish the work of Providing Access to the Sewa~~d <br />Cemetery Information will be appropriated at the time of grant award, anticipating that <br />the total amount of $8,881 will include $5,328 Federal share and $3552 applicant share in <br />the form of in-kind volunteer labor. <br />Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />
