Sponsored by: Clerk <br /> `.. <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2010 -039 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> AGREEMENT WITH PHT, LLC DBA/SEWARD CITY NEWS AND <br /> APPROVING ADDITIONAL NON - REQUIRED ELECTRONIC <br /> PUBLISHING FOR THE WEEKLY CITY CALENDAR AT AN ANNUAL <br /> RATE OF $2,660 FOR THE YEAR 2010 AND AN ANNUAL RATE OF $3,952 <br /> THROUGH DECEMBER OF 2011 <br /> WHEREAS, the Seward City News has been posting the weekly city calendar on their <br /> website for the past four years at no cost to the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, owner Paul Tougas of the Seward City News is proposing the City of Seward <br /> pay for publishing with his website; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Seward publishes all its public notices as required by law in the <br /> Seward Phoenix Log, along with provided affidavits of publication at an annual rate of <br /> approximately $17, 500; and <br /> WHEREAS, this rate is only for the weekly calendar put out by the clerk's office, with all <br /> other city departments continuing to pay Seward City News for any advertising they already do; and <br /> WHEREAS, this would be additional advertising not required by law; and <br /> WHEREAS, posting within the Seward City News allows for greater citizen involvement <br /> and is a value to the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, as additional community outreach, the Seward City Council wishes to continue <br /> publishing the city calendar in SewardCityNews.com; and <br /> WHEREAS, because of the proposed provisional rate of 62% off their business <br /> announcement rate, no additional advertising money would need to be appropriated from either the <br /> 2010 or the 2011 annual budget. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br />
