Sponsored by: Staff <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> RESOLUTION 2010 -04 <br /> RESOLUTION 2010 -04, SELECTING "HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> EXHIBIT DESIGN FOR SEWARD MUSEUM" AS A GRANT PROJECT <br /> FOR A STATE OF ALASKA, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL <br /> RESOURCES, HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND GRANT, AND <br /> RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE GRANT APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE <br /> OF HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY, ALASKA DIVISION OF PARKS <br /> AND OUTDOOR RECREATION <br /> WHEREAS, each year the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Historic <br /> Preservation Office offers a Historic Preservation Fund Grant to Certified Local Governments; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Seward, Historic Preservation Commission has applied for and <br /> has been awarded several of the annual Historic Preservation Fund Grants; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Seward Community Library Museum Building <br /> Committee (SCLMBC) that the new facility include space for important historic preservation <br /> rr• resources alongside historic artifacts, displays and information both historic and current to <br /> provide a complete representation of Seward's history, and a knowledgeable staff to guide and <br /> interpret it; and <br /> WHEREAS, SHPO agreed to consider a request for historic preservation funds to be <br /> used to visualize and illustrate this important public education component of the Seward <br /> Museum; and <br /> WHEREAS, focus of this grant request is to contract services to work with the <br /> community planners to envision the museum themes, types of visitor experiences and <br /> interpretive techniques; and <br /> WHEREAS, The total cost of the project is $16,050.00. The Federal share of the project <br /> is $9630.00; the local share is $6420.00. The local share is a combination of cash from the <br /> Resurrection Bay Historical Society and in -kind. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation <br /> Commission of the City of Seward, Alaska that: <br /> it <br />
