Sponsored by: Staff <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br /> RESOLUTION 2010 -01 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> COMMISSION, SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR A SECOND <br /> CALL 5010 HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND GRANT FUNDING <br /> CONSTRUCTION OF AN IDITAROD TRAIL CENTENNIAL <br /> MONUMENT AT TRAILHEAD PARK <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Historic <br /> Preservation Office offers a Historic Preservation Fund Grant to Certified Local Governments; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Seward, Historic Preservation Commission has applied for and <br /> has been awarded several of the annual Historic Preservation Fund Grants; and <br /> WHEREAS, the commission received notification of a second call for project proposal <br /> to utilize unused funds on January 22, 2010, submission deadline of February 26, 2010; and <br /> ,.. WHEREAS, the one of the priorities of the Alaska Historical Commission for FY 10 <br /> CLG grants is for projects that increase public awareness of historic preservation and establish <br /> new partnerships to strengthen local historic preservation program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Seward Iditarod Trailblazers and the Resurrection Bay Historical <br /> Society seek to create a monument commemorating the centennial anniversary of the Iditarod <br /> Trail; and <br /> WHEREAS, total project costs are estimated at $36380, including $2380 State <br /> surcharge, $14552 in cash and in -kind applicants share and $21828 Federal share; and <br /> WHEREAS, the applicants share includes $6500 cash committed to the project by the <br /> Seward Iditarod Trailblazers and the Resurrection Bay Historical Society; and <br /> WHEREAS, grant funds will be administered by City of Seward staff, expenditures <br /> reimbursed after invoices are submitted; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Seward Historic Preservation Commission will partner with the Seward <br /> Iditarod Trailblazers and the Resurrection Bay Historical Society in completing the monument <br /> project. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation <br /> ``� Commission of the City of Seward, Alaska that: <br />
