Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2012 -047 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS BY THE <br /> CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DURING THE 2012 INDEPENDENCE DAY <br /> FESTIVITIES <br /> WHEREAS, Seward City Code 10.10.040 prohibits the discharge of fireworks in Seward <br /> unless specifically approved by the City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce will again sponsor a fireworks display on <br /> Wednesday July 4, 2012, at 12:01 am with alternate dates of July 5, 6, 7 or 8, 2012; and <br /> WHEREAS, the site for the discharge of the fireworks has been identified as the uplands <br /> area south of the harbor and has been approved by the Fire Chief as required in City Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has traditionally allowed the Chamber of Commerce to provide a <br /> fireworks display within the City in conjunction with its Fourth of July festivities. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. As a part of its Independence Day festivities, the Seward Chamber of Commerce <br /> is authorized to discharge fireworks within the City at a time and place that has received the prior <br /> approval of the City Fire Chief. <br /> Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 27` day of <br /> June, 2012. <br /> THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> David Seaward, Mayor <br />
