Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> •• CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2012 -078 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, ALLOCATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR DREDGING THE <br /> SMALL BOAT HARBOR PURSUANT TO THE CITY'S AGREEMENT <br /> WITH THE US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND AUTHORIZING THE <br /> CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO THE CHANGE ORDER IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $161,602.56 <br /> WHEREAS, the City and the US Army Corps of Engineers entered into a Project <br /> Cooperation Agreement (PCA) dated June 13, 2003 as amended, for the Small Boat Harbor <br /> expansion; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the PCA, the City is responsible for a share of the cost of certain <br /> dredging work to be done in the harbor; and <br /> WHEREAS, on July 23, 2012, the City Council approved funding to dredge the Small Boat <br /> Harbor ( "SBH ") totaling $603,983; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has now learned that additional dredging work is needed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City will utilize Commercial Passenger Vessel (CPV) tax funds to pay for <br /> the additional City dredging costs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the restricted CPV funds will be spent in compliance with AS 43.52.230 (b) for <br /> Alaska's Cruise Ship Passengers with additional dredging in the area of Z Float, or L1, directly <br /> benefiting two life safety emergency vessels, the Coast Guard Cutter Mustang and the City of <br /> Seward's Fire Boat, that respond to Cruise Ship emergencies; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is now necessary to supplement the funds that were previously approved. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. The additional amount of $155,858 is hereby authorized and appropriated <br /> from the Commercial Passenger Vessel Fund Account No. 807 - 0000 - 3071 -0276 to the `Dredging' <br /> Contracted Services within the `Dredging' Contracted Services Account No. 276 - 2763 -5390. <br /> Section 2. The City's payment of $161,602.56 (some of these funds were previously <br /> appropriated) is authorized to be paid to the US Army Corps of Engineers for dredging pursuant to <br /> the PCA. <br />
