Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2012 -092 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING THE USE AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> THE CITY OF SEWARD AND THE ALASKA VOCATIONAL <br /> TECHNICAL CENTER (AVTEC) <br /> WHEREAS, the AVTEC Student Services Center facility provides a viable recreation <br /> site for the public in a variety of programs including: roller skating, youth basketball leagues, <br /> youth and adult open gym, adult basketball, wallyball, volleyball and racquetball leagues and <br /> programs, weight lifting, aerobics and other special programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the previous contract between the City of Seward and AVTEC to provide <br /> public use at the AVTEC Student Services Center has ended, and the parties wish to enter into a <br /> new agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS, the AVTEC student population, families of students, staff, and faculty of <br /> AVTEC and their families also benefit from various programs offered through the SCC; and <br /> WHEREAS, AVTEC requires the use of their office space and the agreement has been <br /> changed to reflect that and to move SPRD offices; and <br /> ir.. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Seward Administration and Parks and Recreation Department <br /> has negotiated those terms and the remainder of the terms and conditions of attached agreement <br /> with the Alaska Vocational Technical Center to provide public use at the AVTEC Student <br /> Services Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2012 budget approved by the City Council reflects the program hours, <br /> associated expenses, and projected uses set forth in the Use Agreement. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. The Use Agreement between the City of Seward and the Alaska Vocational <br /> Technical Center is hereby approved, and shall become effective on the date of signature by both <br /> parties. <br /> Section 2. The term of the agreement is for three years beginning October 1, 2012. <br /> Section 3. Two one -year extensions may be approved by the mutual written agreement <br /> of both parties. <br /> Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />
