Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2014-028 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT <br /> LEGISLATIVE GRANT #13-GO-014 FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA <br /> DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN <br /> THE AMOUNT OF $10,000,000 FOR THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> OF THE SEWARD MARINE INDUSTRIAL CENTER (SMIC) AND <br /> APPROPRIATING FUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, the City has developed a plan for further expansion of the Seward Marine <br /> Development Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, this project continues to be a City priority for funding requests; and <br /> WHEREAS,in November 2011 Alaska voters approved a statewide general obligation bond <br /> which included ten million dollars ($10,000,000) for the SMIC project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic <br /> Development, Division of Community and Regional Affairs' (DCCED/DCRA) Grant agreement <br /> number 13-GO-014 awards the City$10,000,000 to fund SMIC expansion, and describes the terms <br /> and conditions of the award; and <br /> WHEREAS,Council acceptance and appropriation of these fiends is necessary to spend State <br /> bond funding on this project. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept grant #13-G0-014 from the <br /> State of Alaska DCCED in the amount of$10,000,000 for the purpose of engineering, permitting, <br /> design, demolition, geotechnical, project oversight services, upland development planning and <br /> construction, related to the Seward Marine Industrial Center Expansion Project. The project period <br /> for this grant is July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2017. <br /> Section 2. Funding in the amount of$1,382,916 was previously appropriated via Resolution <br /> 2013-096 to R&M infrastructure account. <br /> Section 3. Remaining funds in the amount of$8,617,084 are hereby appropriated from State <br /> Grant revenue account no. 278-2782-4680-0200 to infrastructure account no. 278-2782-5925. <br /> ,,,, Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. <br />
