Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2014-039 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, ACCEPTING TWO (2) REIMBURSABLE STATE OF ALASKA <br /> REGION 10 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic <br /> Development Division of Community and Regional Affairs(DCRA)through the Federal Emergency <br /> Management Agency (FEMA) and the Community Assistance Program — State Support Services <br /> Element Cooperative Agreement is sponsoring reimbursable travel scholarships to attend the <br /> Association of State Floodplain Managers Conference (ASFPM) in Seattle, WA; and <br /> WHEREAS, the ASFPM conference will take place in Seattle June 1 through 7, 2014 and <br /> will provide an excellent opportunity for staff development; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has been awarded two (2) 75% - 25% Travel Scholarship from the <br /> State of Alaska Floodplain Managers Office to attend the ASFPM Conference; and <br /> WHEREAS, two (2) staff members plan to attend the conference, salaries have been <br /> approved as providing the 25% matching funds; and <br /> WHEREAS, due to the financial burden of the travel costs, the Community Development <br /> Department has requested the City provide the initial funds for the conference travel,registration and <br /> per diem; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Seward will be reimbursed for the appropriated funds through the <br /> Travel Scholarships awarded by the State of Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and <br /> Economic Development Division of Community and Regional Affairs(DCRA)upon completion of <br /> the conference travel. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section I. The City Council hereby accepts two (2) reimbursable State of Alaska, <br /> Department of Commerce,Community and Economic Development Travel Scholarship Awards,to <br /> provide travel expenses and registration to Scholarship Revenue Account Number 101-0000-4680- <br /> 0200 in an amount not to exceed $4,603.88, and appropriates $4,603.88 to the Community <br /> Development travel account no. 101-1150-5140. The General Fund will provide approximately <br /> $2,096.00 in matching funds associated with salaries. <br /> Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />
