Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2014-078 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT <br /> VEHICLE FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT,UNIT#131,IN AN <br /> AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $31,865 UTILIZING THE STATE OF <br /> ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CONTRACT#1900-14-2 <br /> WHEREAS,the FY2014 Motor Pool Budget approved by Council Resolution#2013-090 <br /> appropriated $62,000 to replace Public Works' Unit#131; and <br /> WHEREAS, the vehicle to be replaced is a dilapidated 1993 Chevy 3500 diesel 4X4 Cab <br /> and Chassis with a utility box; and <br /> WHEREAS,this vehicle is used to provide maintenance and repairs in the field, as well as <br /> provide fueling to other vehicles, away from the shop; and <br /> WHEREAS,the replacement vehicle will be a gas powered,Ford F450 3500 4X4 Cab and <br /> Chassis with standard work truck specifications, utilizing the State of Alaska Department of <br /> Transportation, contract#1900-14-2; and <br /> 600 <br /> WHEREAS, once the cab and chassis has been purchased, Public Work Staff will solicit <br /> quotes for the utility box and accessories, estimated to cost $26,000, to be deducted from the <br /> remaining portion of the $62,000 previously allocated in the Motor Pool Fund; and <br /> WHEREAS,the replaced vehicle will be sold at the next surplus sale, with proceeds to be <br /> deposited in the Motor Pool Fund; and <br /> WHEREAS, purchasing this replacement vehicle will not increase the department <br /> budget; and <br /> WHEREAS, Seward City Code 6.10.120(b) exempts from competitive procurement <br /> requirements/purchases which utilize competitive bids obtained by other government units, and <br /> Public Works is purchasing this vehicle utilizing the State of Alaska purchasing contract. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase a replacement vehicle from Kendall <br /> Ford on the State of Alaska Department of Transportation contract#1900-14-2 for an amount not-to- <br /> exceed $31,865.00, with funding to come from the Motor Pool Fund, as approved in the 2014 <br /> yam,,, budget. <br />
