Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2014-098 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION 2014-079 AND AUTHORIZING <br /> THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE FOR THE PUBLIC <br /> WORKS DEPARTMENT, UNIT#120, IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED <br /> $30,643 <br /> WHEREAS, the FY2014 Motor Pool Budget approved by Council Resolution #2013-090 <br /> included$75,000 to replace Public Works' Unit#120,a 1988 GMC3500 Diesel 4X2 GMC Flat Bed <br /> Pickup; and <br /> WHEREAS,on October 13,2014,the City Council passed resolution 2014-079,authorizing <br /> the City Manager to purchase a 2015 Ford F450 from Kendall Ford, utilizing the State of Alaska's <br /> Department of Transportation procurement procedure, for an amount not-to-exceed $29,557; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kendall Ford is now under new ownership and no longer participates in the <br /> State of Alaska Department of Transportation Contract program; and <br /> WHEREAS, Cal Worthington Ford is a participant in the State of Alaska Department of <br /> Transportation contract#CA1900-14-1, offering the same vehicle for $30,643; and <br /> WHEREAS,the replacement vehicle will be a gas powered,2015 Ford F450 3500 4X2 Cab <br /> and Chassis with standard work truck specifications, utilizing the State of Alaska Department of <br /> Transportation procurement procedures; and <br /> WHEREAS,this vehicle is needed for many routine maintenance jobs by most departments <br /> within Public Works; and <br /> WHEREAS,the replaced vehicle will be sold at the next surplus sale, with proceeds to be <br /> deposited in the Motor Pool Fund; and <br /> WHEREAS, purchasing this replacement vehicle will not increase the department <br /> budget; and <br /> WHEREAS, once the cab and chassis has been purchased, Public Work Staff will solicit <br /> bids for the lift bed and accessories, to be deducted from the remaining portion of the $75,000, <br /> previously allocated for Unit#120 in the Motor Pool Fund; and <br /> WHEREAS, Seward City Code 6.10.120(b) exempts from competitive procurement <br /> requirements/purchases which utilize competitive bids obtained by other government units, and <br /> .., Public Works is purchasing this vehicle utilizing the State of Alaska purchasing contract. <br />
