Sponsored by: Seward Historical Preservation Commission <br /> CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2015-005 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA,RECOMMENDING <br /> THAT THE CITY COUNCIL PLACE THE EIDE-STOTKO HOUSE <br /> LOCATED AT 420 THIRD AVENUE ON THE SEWARD REGISTER OF <br /> HISTORIC PLACES <br /> WHEREAS,City Council Ordinance No.95-10 established the Seward Register of Historic <br /> Places in order to locally recognize properties important in Seward's history; and <br /> WHEREAS, an application to place the Eide-Stotko House on the Seward Register of <br /> Historic Places has been submitted by James and Jill Herbert to the Historic Preservation <br /> Commission for review and recommendation to the City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Eide-Stotko House application has been reviewed and the recommendation <br /> approved by the Resurrection Bay Historical Society as per procedure for nomination to the Seward <br /> Register of Historic Places and reviewed by Seward City Planning Office; and <br /> WHEREAS,an original structure built at 420 Third Avenue in 1915 was destroyed by fire <br /> and rebuilt again as a family dwelling for occupation on the original foundation by January of 1918. <br /> Application contained extensive historic documentation,in the last 100 years this structure has been <br /> home to 6 families; and <br /> WHEREAS,the application has been reviewed and found in order by the Seward Historic <br /> Preservation Commission. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SEWARD HISTORIC <br /> PRESERVATION COMMISSION that: <br /> Section 1. The Eide-Stotko House is eligible for placement on the Seward Register of <br /> Historic Places as a property associated with historic events or persons of local and state <br /> significance. <br /> Section 2. It is hereby recommended that the City Council list the Eide-Stotko House on the <br /> Seward Register of Historic Places. <br /> Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> • <br />
