Sponsored by: Seward Historical Preservation Commission <br /> CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2016-019 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, PLACING THE EIDE-STOTKO HOUSE LOCATED AT 420 <br /> THIRD AVENUE ON THE SEWARD REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES <br /> WHEREAS, Seward City Council Ordinance No. 95-10 established the Seward Register of <br /> Historic Places in order to locally recognize properties important to Seward's history; and <br /> WHEREAS,an application to list the Eide-Stotko House on the Seward Register of Historic <br /> Places has been submitted by James and Jill Herbert to the Seward Historic Preservation <br /> Commission for review and recommendation to the City Council; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Eide-Stotko House application has been reviewed and the recommendation <br /> approved by the Resurrection Bay Historical Society as per procedure for nomination to the Seward <br /> Register of Historic Places and reviewed by Seward City Planning Office; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Eide-Stotko House is an original structure built at 420 Third Avenue that <br /> was destroyed by fire in 1915 and rebuilt again as a family dwelling for occupation on the original <br /> foundation by January of 1918; and <br /> WHEREAS,the application contained extensive historic documentation that establishes that <br /> this structure has been home to six (6) families in the last 100 years; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Eide-Stotko House is eligible for placement on the Seward Register of <br /> Historic Places as a property associated with historic events or persons of local and state <br /> significance; and <br /> WHEREAS,the application has been reviewed,found in order and approved by resolution <br /> by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission on November 18, 2015. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SEWARD,ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. The Eide-Stotko House is hereby placed on the Seward Register of Historic <br /> Places. <br /> Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 22nd day of <br /> February, 2016. <br />
