<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-037 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE CHANGE <br />ORDER #2 TO SWALLING CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, <br />INCORPORATED'S CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR AN AMOUNT <br />NOT TO EXCEED $148,300 FOR PILE DRIVING FOR TWO FISH <br />CLEANING STATIONS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at a special meeting on December 14, 2000, the City Council approved by <br />Resolution 2000-147 the award of a construction contract to Swalling Construction Company to <br />complete the harbor float replacement project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this resolution also approved the budget for the project, reserving $440,000 for <br />construction of two fish cleaning stations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the current fish cleaning station at J approach is to be demolished in order to <br />install access ramps oflesser grade to improve accessibility, therefore the new cleaning station at this <br />end is an integral part ofthe renovation project and must be replaced before the charter season; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Tryck Nyman Hayes, Incorporated, (TNH) has been working with Swalling on <br />various options to complete the fish cleaning stations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, after many discussions and extensive review, it is in the City's best interest and <br />the recommendation ofTNH and staff to accept the bid from Swalling to drive 62 piling and reserve <br />the remaining work for a separate public bid: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this takes advantage ofthe contractor already doing similar work in the harbor <br />and the pile driving work will be Change #2 to the original construction contract; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to approve this Change Order to meet the project deadlines; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue Change Order #2 to Swalling <br />Construction Company, Incorporated's construction contract for an amount not to exceed $148,300 <br />for pile driving for the fish cleaning stations. <br /> <br />Section 2. This amount is to be applied to the reserved amount for fish cleaning stations in <br />the approved budget. <br />
