<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-041 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NUMBER 4 TO TRYCKNYMAN <br />HAYES INCORPORATED'S ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT TO <br />ADD SPECIAL PURPOSE FLOAT DESIGN FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO <br />EXCEED $16,000 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Plans and Specifications for the North Harbor Renovation Project since the <br />original drawings have called for moving the break on G Float from between E and F floats to <br />between D and E Floats; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board (P ACAB) recommended this gap be <br />filled, making G Float a continuous float section; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager agreed with the P ACAB and directed a solution to bridging <br />this gap be explored and implemented; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this gap transitions from a state of the industry concrete float with 24" of <br />freeboard to a thirty-year-old wooden float system with approximately 8" of freeboard in a relatively <br />short distance, requires a ramped float that ties in to the concrete float system using the vendor'& <br />connection system and then matching up to the existing float; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since the P ACAB feels a substantial amount of traffic will use this area ofthe <br />float system, it is prudent and necessary to have the connection designed and engineered by <br />professional engineers to current standards for public safety reasons and it must be stable and have <br />enough flotation to carry the designed load; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for safety and access reasons, there is also a need to supply several "work" <br />floats to store various items such as dock carts and additional equipment used by the customers and <br />businesses in the harbor; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Tryck Nyman Hayes, Incorporated has provided a proposal to add to the <br />existing engineering service contract for the Small Boat Harbor Repair and Renovation Capital <br />Project (approved by the City Council in Resolution 99-143) for design of these special purpose <br />floats; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this proposal would be added as Task #7 to the current contract tor an amount <br />not to exceed $16,000, using re-programmed monies within the existing project; <br />
