<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-048 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, ADOPTING A RISK MANAGEMENT POLICY GUIDING THE <br />IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD'S SAFETY AND <br />INSURANCE PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Seward City Council approved Resolution No. 89-139 on November <br />27, 1989 establishing an accident prevention/loss control policy for the city of Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to update its risk management policy (formerly <br />called the accident prevention/loss control policy) to protect the City of Seward against the <br />financial consequences of accidental losses and to establish, to the fullest extent possible, a safe <br />work and service environment in which employees and the public can enjoy safety and security <br />in the course of their daily pursuits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish a formal safety program to identify, prevent and <br />control accidental losses. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Manager shall have overall responsibility for the risk management <br />and insurance program of the City of Seward and shall be responsible for: <br /> <br />A Identifying and measuring risks of accidental loss; <br /> <br />R Selecting and recommending of the appropriate risk management <br />techniques for specific liability exposure problems; <br /> <br />C. Developing and maintaining an information system for timely and <br />accurate recording of claims, losses, insurance premiums and other related <br />costs; <br /> <br />D. Analyzing and allocating insurance premiums, uninsured losses and other <br />associated costs to the budget ofthe City; and <br /> <br />E. <br /> <br />Establishing, implementing and monitoring an integrated citywide safety <br />program. <br />
