<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: ~ <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-102 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH ALCAN ELECTRICAL AND ENGINEERING, INC. TO <br />DO MITIGATION WORK ON THE TRANSl\fiSSION AND DISTRIBUTION <br />LINE BETWEEN MILES 18 AND 22, AT A PRICE NOT-TO-EXCEED <br />$216,818.75 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward incurred damage to the Transmission and Distribution lines <br />in January 2000 during the heavy snowfall and resultant avalanches; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has agreed to fund the <br />mitigation and clearing work which need to be completed to prevent future problems in the same <br />area; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this work was advertised for bids and three companies responded with bids; <br /> <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward's consulting engineer, Dryden & LaRue, reviewed the bids <br />and recommended that ALCAN be determined to be the low bidder and that they be selected for this <br />contract at an amount not-to-exceed $216,818.73; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Alcan Electrical and <br />Engineering, Inc. to perform mitigation and clearing work on the Transmission and Distribution lines <br />between miles 18 and 22 on the Seward Highway at a price not-to-exceed $159,242.00. <br /> <br />Section 2. Contingent upon receipt of additional FEMA funding in the amount of $57,576.73 <br />the contract with ALCAN is approved up to the total amount not-to-exceed $216,818.73 and the <br />additional $57,576.73 is appropriated to account 866-8661-5390. <br /> <br />Section 3. Funding to be from a FEMA grant and charged to account 866-8661-5390. <br /> <br />Section 4. This resolution to take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />
