<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: ~ <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-107 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, ACCEPTING THE STATE OF ALASKA FY2002 CAPITAL <br />MATCHING GRANT AWARD OF $73,546, AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT AND APPROPRIATING A TOTAL CAPITAL PROJECT <br />FUND OF $150,000 FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING THE FIRE <br />PROTECTION CAPABILITY OF THE COMMUNITY AND TO COMPLETE <br />THE FIRE HYDRANT PHASE II PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council approved Resolution 2000-108 on September 25,2000 endorsing the <br />Fire Hydrant Upgrade Phase II project for the State of Alaska FY 2002 Capital Project Matching <br />Grant Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State has awarded the City of Seward a FY2002 Capital Project Matching <br />Grant in the amount of $73,546 for the purpose of improving the fire protection capability of the <br />community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Capital Project Matching Grant requires a local match of $14,542; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the project will allow for replacement of the oldest substandard hydrants, <br />installation of hydrants and extension of water lines where required to meet current and future fire <br />protection needs within the existing water system of the City and dry hydrants will also be developed <br />where water lines are not available or it is impractical, in order to ensure fire protection needs are met <br />for existing and new construction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's CY2001 Capital Budget for the Water/Sewer Enterprise Fund <br />included $150,000 to complete the Fire Hydrant Phase II project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Grant will provide $73,546 and the Water/Sewer Enterprise Fund will <br />provide $76,454 for a total project funding of $150,000 for the purpose of improving the fire <br />protection capability of the community. <br />
