<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-145 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, APPROVING THE CITY OF SEWARD'S CALENDAR YEAR 2002 <br />FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS,annually the City compiles a list of projects or issues that are identified as top <br />legislative priorities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the list of projects is compiled into a package that is then distributed to our <br />Congressional delegation, the Kenai Peninsula Borough, and our lobbyists; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this prioritized list validates the projects and greatly focuses the efforts of the <br />Administration in our lobbying effort; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all the projects on this list are consistent with the City's Comprehensive and <br />Strategic Plans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the following projects are the City's priorities for the upcoming legislative <br />sessIOn: <br /> <br />Flood Mitigation <br />1. Long-term solution to a Lowell Creek Tunnel Failure <br />$25,000 for a Loss/Risk Analysis and CostlBenefit of the impacts of a tunnel failure <br />Design and Engineering funding for a long-term mitigation measure <br />Transfer ownership to the Army Corps of Engineers <br /> <br />Life/Safety <br />1. $150,000 to replace the police dispatch console <br /> <br />Economic Development <br />1. Construction funding for the East Harbor Expansion <br />$4.5 million for Army Corps of Engineers work on navigational items in President's budget <br />2. $9 million for completion of the North Dock Basin Breakwater <br />3. $10 million for improvements to the Seward Marine Industrial Center (SMIC) <br />4. $8 million for construction of the Interagency (MultiAgency) Facility <br /> <br />Research <br />1. $25 million to the University of Alaska for replacement of the RN Alpha Helix <br />
