<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: ~ <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2000-038 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT THROUGH DECEMBER 31, <br />2000, WITH ALASKA NEWSPAPERS, INC., FOR DISPLAY ADVERTISING <br />IN THE SEWARD PHOENIX LOG AT A RATE OF $7.31 PER COLUMN <br />INCH, WITH A MINIMUM OF 35 COLUMN INCHES PER WEEK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's contract for advertising in The Seward Phoenix Log expired on <br />November 30, 1999; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Log has provided advertising services in the past and has given the City a <br />measure of flexibility in meeting deadlines in order to guarantee that advertising occurs during <br />established code-required time frames; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the agreement with Alaska Newspapers, Inc., does not obligate the City to <br />advertise in The Log, but does guarantee a more favorable rate if the City purchases a minimum <br />number of column inches of advertising during a one-year period; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to publish the bulk of the City's ads in a local <br />newspaper, and The Phoenix Log is currently the only regularly published newspaper with an office <br />in the city of Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is no rate increase from the current contract; . <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. It is in the public interest to approve a contract for advertising without full <br />utilization of city bid procedures. <br /> <br />Section 2. The advertising contract to provide display advertising for the city for the period <br />April 10, 2000, through December 31,2000, at $7.31 per column inch, with a minimum of35 column <br />inches per week. <br /> <br />Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 10th day <br />of April, 2000. <br />
