<br />Sponsored by Staff <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2S.:02 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE SEWARD CITY COUNCIL ESTAB- <br />LISH AN ANNUAL SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Historic Preservation Commission to work <br />toward the continuing education of citizens regarding local historic preservation and community <br />history; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an annual Seward Historic Preservation Award will serve to publicly <br />recognize the citizens in the community who contribute to historic preservation in Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the award will educate and raise the pubic awareness regarding the <br />importance of local historic preservation. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation <br />Commission that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The following procedure will be used to nominate an individual for the Seward <br />Historic Preservation Award: <br />1. Nomination forms may be received from the City Community Development <br />Department, Seward Public Library or Seward Museum. <br />2. Nomination forms must be submitted to the Community Development Department <br />by February 1st of each year. All nominations must include the nominee's signature of consent. <br />3. The Historic Preservation Commission will evaluate the nominations, choose the <br />award recipient(s) and the City Council will award the individual(s) through proclamation in <br />March of each year. <br /> <br />Section 2. The proposed resolution, attached and incorporated herein by reference, <br />recommending that the City Council establish the annual Seward Historic Preservation Award, <br />is forwarded to the City Council for consideration. <br /> <br />Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 21st <br />day of June, 1995. <br />
