<br />Sponsored by: Staff <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION 2003-02 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL <br />AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE OF ALASKA AND THE <br />CITY OF SEWARD FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING A <br />SEWARD NATIONAL HISTORIC SITES TROLLEY TOUR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Alaska, Historic Preservation Office has provided the <br />City of Seward with Historic Preservation Fund grant funds totaling $16,500.00 for the <br />purpose of developing a Seward National Historic Sites Trolley Tour; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the total project cost is anticipated at $16,500.00 with a federal <br />share of $9,900.00 and a local match of $6,600.00 in-kind contributions and expenses; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward has nine (9) National Register Historic Sites and <br />nine (9) historic sites on the Seward Register of Historic Places; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a multi-media tour dedicated to the sites will create a greater <br />appreciation for the history of Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the community will benefit from providing higher visibility for the <br />historic sites. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC <br />PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Historic Preservation Commission hereby recommends that the <br />City Council authorize the City Manager to execute the Historic Preservation Fund grant <br />from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources in order to develop the <br />Seward National Historic Sites Trolley Tour. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take affect immediately upon its adoption. <br />
