<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2000-064 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF LOTS 1,2, AND 3, BLOCK <br />10, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF SEWARD, FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF <br />PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE, FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF $155,000. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to revitalize the downtown commercial district and to locate and <br />improve the public services in the area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of <br />Lots 1,2, and 3, Block 10, Original Townsite of Seward, (located at the corner of Fourth Avenue <br />and Adams Street); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager supports developing this site as a bus stop with an enclosed <br />waiting area, public restrooms, pay phones, tot lot, and a green space area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this proposal has been discussed with the Downtown Business Association and <br />they support the concept; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Seward City Code 97.05.120, the City Manager has <br />negotiated the purchase of the lots located at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Adams Street with <br />the landowner, Mary Williams, for a purchase price of$155,000 plus closing costs for an amount <br />not to exceed $1,200; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing meeting the requirements of Seward City Code 97.05.125 was <br />held on June 26, 2000: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to finalize the purchase and accept a Warranty <br />Deed for Lots 1,2, and 3, Block 10 Original Townsite, of Seward for the purchase price of$155,000. <br /> <br />Section 2. In accordance with Seward City Code 97.05.135, the City Council finds that the <br />essential terms and conditions ofthis land purchase, $155,000 cash plus closing costs for an amount <br />not to exceed $1,200, and the method of acquisition, by negotiation as authorized in Seward City <br />Code 97.05.120, is in the public interest. <br />
