<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2000-068 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA FOR THE PURPOSE <br />OF RESERVING MOST OF WATERFRONT PARK FROM JUNE 4 <br />THROUGH JUNE 10,2001. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Western Alaska Council, Boy Scouts of America requests that Council <br />make an exception of policies and procedures in order to reserve the Waterfront Park from Adams <br />Street Pavilion, north along the Bay to Wellington Pavilion and Boulder Stadium and Williams <br />Park; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts are requesting this camping for no fee; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the dates of this event are from June 4 through June 10,2001; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager has outlined various requirements to be met by the Boy <br />Scouts including, <br /> <br />a. Provide their own security force <br />b. Provide their own fire protection <br />c. Provide their own first/aid and medical <br />d. Keep traffic lanes open <br />e. Contract their own garbage services <br />f Contract their own portable toilets <br />g. Provide one Community Service project (to be mutually agreed upon) <br />h. Clean City-owned restrooms in the reserved areas twice per day; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, regular camping fees shall be waived; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the economic value of this event is desirable to our community; <br /> <br />NOW, THERI:FORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Waterfront Park shall be reserved for the Western Alaska Council, Boy <br />Scouts of America in the above locations for the time-stated. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Manager shall put forth a contract binding the Boy Scouts to <br />provide the above requirements. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska this 26th <br />day ofJune, 2000. <br />
