Wilson commended the role the police had played in <br />directing traffic at the school during the Thanksgiving weekend "Turkey <br />Tourney". <br /> <br />D. Meehan requested that the City Attorney investigate the <br />feasibility of dedicating Lot 28, Block 12, Original Townsite of Seward <br />to be used as a children's playground. <br /> <br />E. O'Brien asked why the Christmas tree on the mountain had <br />not been lit this year. City Manager explained that the City had been <br />unable to find anyone to volunteer to go up the mountain to replace <br />broken and worn lights. Council instructed the Clerk to schedule <br />discussion of repair of the lights on the tree for the first meeting in <br />July so that the work could be performed in good weather. <br /> <br />XIV. CITIZENS' DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />A. Dave Cich, representing the Chamber of Commerce, <br />presented Council with a list of capital projects which the Chamber <br />views as having high priority. Along with several items on the City's <br />CIP program were such proj ects as reopening the lumber mill and the <br />development of international trade. Cich also read a letter from Carol <br />Jaffa stating that the City should invest in a better winter storm drain <br />system. <br /> <br />B. <br />opposition to <br />opposition to <br /> <br />Chuck Soriano appeared from the audience and spoke in <br />the proposed location of the multi-purpose facility and in <br />Council's decision to deny Oldow's appeal. <br /> <br />C. Bob Valdatta appeared from the audience and spoke in <br />opposition to leasing waterfront property to Kawabe for industrial <br />purposes, stating that this type of activity should be confined to the <br />Marine Industrial Center. <br /> <br />XV.
