<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: P ACAB <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2000-072 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, SUPPORTING THE FORMATION OF A KENAI PENINSULA <br />BOROUGH SATELLITE OFFICE IN THE SEWARD AREA. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward is located in excess of one hundred miles from the Borough <br />government center; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has no physical presence in or near the city of <br />Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this lack of presence puts the citizens and the city of Seward at unique <br />disadvantage when dealing with the Kenai Peninsula Borough; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the city of Seward is impacted by non-city residents needing assistance with <br />Kenai Peninsula issues; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the city of Seward and surrounding area have numerous issues at the Borough <br />government level; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, many of these issues are formed at various Borough commissions, service area <br />boards and assembly sub-committees; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is a time consuming and financial burden on residents from this area to attend <br />these commission, boards and assembly sub-committee meetings due to travel; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, attendance to these sub-assembly level meetings is not available vIa <br />teleconference; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has maintained an office in the city of Homer that <br />is closer in proximity to Borough offices since 1996; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is no single depository of up-to-date Borough information in Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board approved Resolution 2000-02 <br />supporting a Kenai Peninsula Borough Satellite Office in the Seward Area on the 14th day of June, <br />2000; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br />
