CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD
RESOLUTION NO. 2001-03

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND
COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING SUPPORT OF THE
MCDONALD POINT PROJECT.

WHEREAS, demand for small boat moorage in Seward is greater then the available
moorage; and

WHEREAS, the City of Seward has actively sought expansion of moorage facilities for
many years; and

WHEREAS, the City of Seward has an active federal project for the expansion of the
Seward Small Boat Harbor that is pending appropriation of federal funds; and

WHEREAS, Alaska Barge and Salvage, through Mister Tim McDonald has proposed
developing McDonald Point into a small boat harbor and multi-use shipping facility; and

WHEREAS, this development would benefit the local economy through increased moorage
capacity, increased shipping activity and increased employment opportunities; and

WHEREAS, development of a private mooring facility would be a benefit to the Seward
area and Alaska as a whole by establishing market rates for wet slips in Alaska; and

WHEREAS, funding for this private marina would not compete for federal funding and
thereby jeopardize the current active project for Seward.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT
AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, approve and adopt by resolution
support of the private development of McDonald Point into a marina and multi-use shipping facility.

Section 2.
