HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2002-003 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 2002-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD ENGAGE AN INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY CONTRACTOR TO CONDUCT AN EFFICIENCY AUDIT OF THE SEWARD MUNICIPAL SMALL BOAT HARBOR. WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board (P ACAB) has been reviewing a full cost recovery report dated March 2001 in preparation for reviewing the moorage rate structure for the harbor; and WHEREAS, a cornerstone in successful business enterprises is a detailed analysis of costs and revenues (efficiency audit); and WHEREAS, this efficiency audit will identify areas to cut costs and streamline operations to enhance the business operations; and WHEREAS, this efficiency audit is necessary prior to any determination being made regarding increasing fees and funding long-term capital improvements; and WHEREAS, with this information, a more informed and accurate decision may be made regarding rates and structures to ensure the long-term health of the harbor and economy of Seward. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Council ofthe City of Seward, Alaska, direct the City Manager to engage a third party contractor to conduct an efficiency audit ofthe Harbor Enterprise Fund.
