Sponsored by: Shealy <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2004-12 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />PAY DUES OWED TO THE ALASKA POWER ASSOCIATION <br />(FORMERLY ARECA) FOR THE YEAR 2004 IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$16,093.00 <br />WHEREAS, the Alaska Power Association (APA, formerly ARECA) is the <br />organization representing telephone and electric utilities in the State of Alaska; and <br />WHEREAS, the APA organization provides a forum and opportunity for interaction <br />and professional coordination of Electric Utility activities and is an extremely valuable <br />organization for the City to belong to and participate in; and <br />WHEREAS, the dues for APA for the year 2004 is $16,093.00; and <br />WHEREAS, these dues represent a very small increase of about 0.05% over 2003 <br />dues; and <br />WHEREAS, it is important for the City of Seward to maintain contact on a <br />professional basis with other electric utilities in the State of Alaska, and in the Nation, in <br />order to benefit from their larger sizes which allows us to participate in multiple training and <br />educational programs which we cannot afford to support on the local level. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br />Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to pay the year 2004 dues to APA in the <br />amount of $16,093.00. <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br />
