Sponsored by: Historic Preservation Commission <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2010 -021 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A <br /> GRANT APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF ALASKA HISTORIC <br /> PRESERVATION OFFICE TO CONSTRUCT AN IDITAROD TRAIL <br /> CENTENNIAL MONUMENT AT TRAILHEAD PARK REQUESTING <br /> $36,380, INCLUDING $21,858 FEDERAL SHARE AND $14,552 <br /> APPLICANT SHARE IN THE FORM OF CASH DONATIONS AND IN- <br /> KIND VOLUNTEER LABOR <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the National Park Service Historic Preservation Act of 1966, <br /> certain federal share matching grants for historic preservation projects are available to <br /> certified local governments, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Seward Historic Preservation Commission held a special meeting on <br /> February 25, 2010 to for the discussion and selection of a FY 2011 grant project on <br /> September 30, 2009; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Seward City Council has reviewed the application prepared by the <br /> Seward Historic Preservation Commissioners for such a federal share matching grant for <br /> the Seward Historic Preservation Commission, and <br /> WHEREAS, The funds to accomplish the work of Providing Access to the Seward <br /> Cemetery Information total $8,881, including $5,329 Federal share and $3,552 applicant <br /> share in the form of in -kind volunteer labor, and <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council is fully cognizant of the obligations and responsibilities <br /> that will be incurred by the City of Seward upon acceptance of such grant. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> Section 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes the manager to submit an application <br /> to the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, for a federal share matching <br /> grant for constructing an Iditarod Centennial Monument. <br /> Section 2. That funds to accomplish the work of the Iditarod Trail Centennial <br /> Monument total $36,380 including $21,880 Federal share and $14,552 applicant share in <br /> the form of cash donations and in -kind volunteer labor, if the grant is funded. <br /> Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward this 8th day of March, <br /> 2010. <br />
