Sponsored by: Staff <br /> imo <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> RESOLUTION 2013 -01 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF <br /> THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL <br /> APPROVE THE ATTACHED ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING <br /> DESIGNATION OF A SMALL PORTION OF CITY OWNED LAND <br /> LOCATED WITHIN TRACT G OF THE WATERFRONT PARK <br /> REPLAT, FROM HARBOR COMMERCIAL (HC), TO PARK (P) <br /> WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough approved the Waterfront Park Replat which <br /> was recorded as plat 2012 -04 in the Seward Recording District on June 8, 2012; and <br /> WHEREAS, located within Tract G, Waterfront Park Replat is a relatively small, less <br /> than three -fourth (' /o) of an acre of land, that is zoned Harbor Commercial (HC); and <br /> WHEREAS, the parcel known as Tract G of the Waterfront Park Replat, is located <br /> immediately south of Tract H which is commonly known as the South Harbor Uplands and east <br /> of the privately owned Harbor Light Apartments; and <br /> WHEREAS, the approximate three -fourth ( %) of an acre area, proposed in this rezone <br /> has historically been used as a motor home camping area of Waterfront Park, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Park Zoning District was established to provide areas for recreation and <br /> commemorative property owned by the City, state or federal governments for recreation and <br /> other compatible public purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS the Land Use Plan Map, the 2020 Comprehensive Plan and the Seward <br /> Strategic Plan all support Tract G, Waterfront Park be designated as Park Zoning; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is a goal of the Seward Comprehensive Plan to bring the Zoning Map into <br /> conformance with the Land Use Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the public notification process was complied with and the appropriate <br /> public hearing as required by Seward City Code § 15.01.040 was conducted by the Commission <br /> on February 5, 2013. <br />
